Not just a new SIM, an entirely new way to connect - Embedded SIM (eSIM)

How does an eSIM work?

The built-in eSIM will be supported by most network providers in the near future. It’s a programmable card that’s built into a phone than can be used on different networks. As a user the idea is that you sign one contract with a provider of your choice and when the contract is over you don’t have to switch sim cards to change networks. A contract can even contain multiple profiles or numbers allowing you to have more than one number on a phone. (One for work and one for play)

What are eSIMs’ and why are they beneficial?

  • Embedded SIM (eSIM) is a new standard for building a SIM directly into connected devices (simple to setup)

  • You can quickly switch between personal and business numbers

  • Travel without taking your SIM card

  • It’s more reliable. You can’t lose your eSIM!

  • Optimize your cellular coverage and data plan costs.

  • More efficient- can connect more devices without a physical SIM.

What are the disadvantages of an eSIM?

Much more difficult for people to change network carriers and phones mid contract
